Welcome to Twining Vine Garden. Our little patch of Eden is constantly evolving to include a greater diversity of native plants as well as rare and hard to find species and varieties from around the world. Our selection is slowly growing to include heirloom tomatoes, magnolias and peonies. We've been organic since inception, though we are not certified, the use of man-made chemicals and fertilizers never sat well in our minds. When we see the wildlife around us and the honeybees at work, it affirms our choice in our organic growing practices and being stewards of nature’s creatures and resources. Mind you we still chase the sapsucker out of the apple and plum trees. Over the years, we have noticed an increase in diversity of bird and insect life. In 2005 we enjoyed a population bloom of ladybugs and learned more about their fascinating life cycle from egg to breeding adults. All a person had to do was watch. We also noticed our soil health improving and the yields from the orchard are bountiful even in 'bad years' of cold wet springs. The apiary is growing as well. This year saw us win 2 blue ribbons for our naturally creamed honey. These little successes in the garden keep us doing what we’re doing, and now we are able to share our success with you. We update our seed selections when Mother Nature shares her bounty. Articles and links dealing with growing, germination and other forms of propagation will be offered over time. Please keep in mind we are closed from late April to September, switching our focus on propagation and harvesting during these months. We are closed and keep e-mailing to a minimum. Seed orders will not be filled. Sorry, BUT if you have any special requests please do it early (earlier the better) and we will do our best looking during our travels or ask the ever growing network of plant people to fill your wish list. Green thumbs and dirty fingers,The folks at Twining Vine Garden. |
