Description: A tall narrow growing minty scented kissing cousin of Anise Hyssop. Blue-violet flowers in dense 20 cm long spikes bloom late spring until frost. Entire plant has a refreshing scent. Hummingbird, butterfly and bee magnet. Grows to 1.5 meters tall. Used in traditional Chinese medicine. Also makes a lovely tea.
Notes: This does not belong to the genus 'Mentha'. Strong mint scent and not invasive. Tall slender plants in full sun but sprawls in semi shade. Another great nectar provider. Used in Traditional Chinese medicine. Makes a refreshing tea. Can cross pollinate with Anise Hyssop and offspring will be anise scented. Our patches are isolated from each other. Hardy deer proof perennial other wise.
Cultivation: Sow 4 mm deep. Keep moist; success better with plastic cover. Opt. germination temp: 15-22 C. Days to germ: 7-21. Easy to grow.
