 Magnolia acuminata germinating seed |
Syn. Magnolia cordata
Native Region: Eastern North America Zone Range: 3-8 Preferred Climate: Full to semi sun; well draining humus rich soils Harvest Date: Sunday 23 October, 2011 Seed count: 8-10
Description: Germinating seed. Available for a limited time.
Notes: Instant gratification!
Cultivation: Sow upon arrival. Make sure you don't damage the roots when handling. Seedlings will need warmth and light so ensure proper care for them during the winter months. I had mine growing in 15 cm square pots under the desk lamp on the computer desk. By late April the roots were starting to come out of the container drainage holes. They didn't really go into dormancy so growth isn't restricted. Any well draining medium and a dilute fertilizer feeding is best.
