Iris forrestii

Iris forrestii

ca$ 3.25
Seed count: 15-20
Iris forrestii
Iris forrestii
Native Region: China
Zone Range: 7-9
Preferred Climate: Full to semi sun; well draining moisture retentive soil
Harvest Date: Thursday 08 March, 2012
Seed count: 15-20

Description:
In your mind's eye imagine a primrose to lemon yellow flowered iris with short streaks of purple along the falls held above graceful grass like 45 cm long sword like leaves. This beauty is sweetly scented too...something hard to find in a nonbearded species. Simply gorgeous and non invasive (don't mistake it with I. pseudoacorus).

Notes:
Needs Spring moisture to proper May/June flowers which is not a problem in our west coast environment. Tolerates summer drought when established.

Cultivation:
Soak seed 24 hours. Give 30-60 days of cold stratification then germinate at 20C in moist peat either sown 5 mm deep in a pot or sprouted in a resealable baggie then transplanted into individual pots or what have you to grow out until large enough to seat out in the garden.

Harvest Date: Thursday 08 March, 2012
