Paulownia tomentosa
Empress Tree; Foxglove Tree
ca$ 3.25
Seed count: 40-50
Paulownia tomentosa
Paulownia tomentosa

Native Region: Central to Western China
Zone Range: 5-9
Preferred Climate: Full to semi sun; well draining deep soil.
Harvest Date: Tuesday 19 October, 2010
Seed count: 40-50

Description:
Sweetly fragrant large foxglove like flowers heavily adorn the previous year's new growth as the blooms appear before the large soft heart shaped leaves. Fast growing tree to 10 meters or more with a spread of 8 meters making it a great shade tree in very little time.

Notes:
Considered invasive in some parts of the world, but we've yet to see rogue seedlings...cause I'd be busy digging these up and not sowing!

Cultivation:
Easy! Surface sow only as needs light to germinate. Small seed perhaps best to mix with a small amount of sand or vermiculate before sowing to get a better thinner, even distribution. Mist seed well. Use a clear plastic cover to keep moisture in. Germinates in 7 days at 20 C. Tiny seedlings are prey for nibblers so protect well. We have lots of nibblers so we've never seen any rogue seedlings at our neck of the jungle.

Harvest Date: Tuesday 19 October, 2010
