This deciduous terrestrial fern has erect shuttlecocks of pale green lance-shaped fronds. Spreads vigorously by rhizomes, producing offset plants 6 inches from the parent plant. Height 5-1/2 feet.
The shiny bright to mid-green leaves remain through most winters, to be gradually replaced by new growth in the spring that has a distinctive coppery colour.
This evergreen fern has matte, dark green fronds, which are reddish green when young. Height 4-8 inches; spread indefinite. A small fern suitable for shady rock gardens.
