This arching subshrub has mid-green leaves covered in gray down and bears orange-red flowers in terminal clusters in summer. Flowers attract hummingbirds. Height 24 inches; spread 18 inches. Where not hardy, grow as a houseplant or in a warm greenhouse.
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed about 1/4 inch deep in pots filled with a water-moistened growing medium. Put one seed in each pot, or leave about 18 inches of space between plants if growing in beds outdoors. Grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun.
