This evergreen shrub has spoon-shaped leathery green leaves that are rust-red underneath. The plant bears spherical to ellipsoid figs about 1/2 inch across, ripening to yellow/orange or red. 20 feet height; 10 foot spread.
The genus Ficus is now in the family Moraceae.
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed at 15-21 degrees Celsius in spring. Under glass, grow in soil-based potting mix with added fine bark chips in full or filtered light. Apply high nitrogen fertilizer about once a month. Keep moist in winter.
