 Mahonia japonica forma bealii |
Native Region: Japan Zone Range: 07-08 Preferred Climate: Temperate Harvest Date: Sunday 20 June, 2010 Seed count: 15-20
Description: This erect evergreen shrub has blue-green leaves divided into leaflets and bears pale yellow flowers in upright racemes from late fall to early spring, followed by blue-purple berries. Height is 6 feet.
Cultivation: For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed outdoors in a seedbed or containers in fall. Stratification improves germination. Grow in moderately-fertile humusy, moist but well-drained soil in part to full shade, but will tolerate more sun if the soil is kept moist.
