Description: This upright evergreen shrub has spiny, glossy green leaves. Pendent racemes of bright orange flowers are borne in mid-spring, followed by edible blue-black spherical fruit. Height and spread 10 feet in the wild, but easy to keep much smaller in cultivation.
Notes: The edible purple fruits are used for jams and infusions. The Michay are a symbol of Patagonia.
Cultivation: For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in a seedbed in early spring. Grow in any well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade.
