 Aster albescens |
Native Region: Himalayas Zone Range: 07-10 Preferred Climate: Temperate Harvest Date: Tuesday 05 September, 2006 Seed count: 40-50
Description: When thinking of asters, we tend to think of them as being perennials, but this little treasure from the Himalayas is a small deciduous shrub with lance-shaped aromatic leaves, mid-green above and grey-green below. The flowers, produced in early to midsummer, are pale mauve to purple. A wonderful plant for a sunny location.
Cultivation: Sow seed in containers in a coldframe as soon as your seed order arrives. Grow on in a neutral to slightly acid, humus rich soil with good drainage. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.
