 Dierama latifolium |
Native Region: South Africa Zone Range: 7-9 Preferred Climate: Temperate to Mediterranean Harvest Date: Sunday 29 August, 2010 Seed count: 25-30
Description: A delightful perennial bulb from South Africa, this is one of the tallest Dieramas, with wire thin flower stems reaching as high as 2m (6ft) or more. The delicate pale pink pendent bells, produced in midsummer, move in the slightest breeze.
Cultivation: Sow seed in a cool greenhouse or in containers in a cold frame in spring. Grow on in any good garden soil with good drainage. In warmer climates keep soil fairly moist. In cooler regions, good drainage will improve potential hardiness. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.
