Harvest Date: Sunday 06 August, 2017

Description:
Clump-forming, taprooted herbaceous perennial with rounded, pinnatifid, spiny dark green basal leaves with conspicuous silver veins. In mid to late summer, blue stems bear blue flowers in cylindrical umbels 1-1/4 inches long, with lance-shaped blue-tinged silver brachts. Height 18 inches; spread 12 inches. Good plant for naturalizing or to provide a long-lasting display in a mixed border. Flowers are good for dried arrangements.

Cultivation:
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in autumn into pots using standard loam-based seed compost mixed with coarse horticultural sand. Use 1 part compost to 1 part sand. Cover with coarse horticultural sand and place in a cold frame. Germination takes 2-3 months. Grow in dry well-drained, poor to moderately-fertile soil in full sun.
