This clumping, shade-loving perennial has downy, heart-shaped leaves that have a silvery sheen and bears three-petaled, yellow flowers about 1 inch wide in spring. Forms a mound up to 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide.
Saruma is an anagram of the word 'Asarum'--the genus of wild gingers.
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in containers in a cold frame when ripe. Grow in rich, humusy, moist but well-drained soil in part shade to full shade. Established plants are somewhat drought-tolerant.
