 Thermopsis lanceolata |
Native Region: Siberia Zone Range: 3-9 Preferred Climate: temperate Harvest Date: Tuesday 19 September, 2006 Seed count: 12-15
Description: This long-lived, easily grown perennial grows to 90 cm tall. Leaves are three sectioned and gray-green. The flower spike is 30 cm high on the top of the stem and covered with small yellow lupine-like flowers in early summer.
Notes: Good plant for border or foundation plantings. Does not like its roots disturbed. May get a second flowering by cutting back flowering spikes after blooming if growing season is long enough.
Cultivation: For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Nick and soak seeds prior to sowing. Sow seeds at 10-13 degrees Celsius in spring in pots and plant out when sufficiently established in summer to fall. Will tolerate many conditions but does best in light, well-drained fertile loamy soil in full sun or partial shade.
