 Cosmos bipinnatus |
Native Region: Mexico Zone Range: 04-10 Preferred Climate: Sunny Harvest Date: Tuesday 16 September, 2008 Seed count: 40-50
Description: Growing up to a height of 1.5m(5ft) the plants are nonetheless delicate enough not to form a solid mass and therefore not overpower even very small gardens.
Notes: Feathery foliage and large bright flowers in shades of pink white and red make this plant a favourite choice. Good for cut flowers (but who would want to take a pair of scissors to such beauties?)
Cultivation: Sow seeds in spring in situ, or in peat pots or other biodegradable containers - these plants do no appreciate root disturbance, and it's a good idea to use containers that can be placed directly in the planting holes. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.
