Acaena microphylla

New Zealand Burr

ca$ 3.75
Seed count: 25-30
Acaena microphylla
Acaena microphylla
Native Region: New Zealand
Zone Range: 06-09
Preferred Climate: Alpine to Maritime Temperate
Harvest Date: Sunday 09 September, 2012
Seed count: 25-30

Description:
A compact, low growing ground cover with small compound blue-green to copper coloured leaves. Small spherical flower clusters are followed by soft red burrs to 2cm across. Although these burrs look quite spiny, they are in fact soft.

Notes:
The plants at VanDusen, that were the source of this seed, are particularly choice in that they have silver-blue foliage and pink burrs. A wonderful plant that is not yet generally available.

Cultivation:
Sow seed in containers in an open frame in autumn or spring. Grow in moderately fertile well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.

Harvest Date: Sunday 09 September, 2012
