Astilbe rubra
   Syn. Astilbe chinensis var. davidii

Native Region: Siberia, China, Korea
Zone Range: 04-08
Preferred Climate: temperate
Harvest Date: Tuesday 23 September, 2014
Seed count: 50-60

Perennial with three-ternate bronze-tinted leaves that bears plume-like panicles of purple-pink flowers on erect slender branches. 6 feet tall and 2 feet wide. More drought-tolerant than most astilbes; thrives in sun or shade.

For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in early spring into pots using soil-less seed compost. Mix the seeds with fine sand or talcum powder for an even sowing. Cover with perlite and place under protection at 18 degrees Celsius. Water with a spray. Grow in moist, humusy soil in full sun or part shade.
