Cephalaria gigantea

Giant Scabious, Yellow Scabious, Tatarian Cephalaria

Seed count: 20-25
Cephalaria gigantea
Cephalaria gigantea
Native Region: Caucasus, Siberia
Zone Range: 06-09
Preferred Climate: Cold to hot temperate
Harvest Date: Sunday 23 August, 2009
Seed count: 20-25

Creamy white flowers, typical of Scabious, are held high throughout summer on stems that can grow as tall as 2.5m (8ft). A good choice for the back of a border, or in any situation where height is desirable, but without excessive foliage to block out the sun for shorter plantings in the bed.

Sow seed in containers in a coldframe or cool greenhouse in the spring. Grow in well-drained average garden soil. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.

Harvest Date: Sunday 23 August, 2009
