 Dryas octopetala |
Native Region: Mountains of the northern hemisphere Zone Range: 02-08 Preferred Climate: Arctic to temperate alpine Harvest Date: Tuesday 26 June, 2012 Seed count: 15-20
Description:
Eight-petalled flowers are produced above the dark green foliage on this evergreen sub-shrub in the early to midsummer. The flowers are followed by attractive white seed-heads that persist into winter. A delightful alpine that is relatively easy to grow if you give it very good drainage.
Cultivation: Plant the seed in containers in a coldframe as soon as your seed order arrives. Grow in sharply-drained sandy soil in full sun to semi-shade. Will tolerate temperatures to -15ºC (5ºF) if protected from excessive winter wet. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.
