Iris chrysographes
Iris chrysographes
Native Region: Western China – Sichuan, Yunnan
Zone Range: 04-09
Preferred Climate: Temperate
Harvest Date: Saturday 08 September, 2012
Seed count: 15-20

Description:
This small to medium sized iris species has deciduous blue-green to bright green leaves to 50cm(20in) long, and in June-July will produce stems bearing two deep purple-blue to almost black, gold-veined beardless flowers.

Cultivation:
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed 0.5cm(¼in) deep in containers of sandy loam in a cold frame, or alternatively, plunge pots in the ground in a sheltered location in the garden. Be sure that, wherever you place the pots, you will be able to monitor them to ensure that the soil never dries out or remain too wet. Sowings may be made in either autumn or spring. Germination may take as long as a year.
