Lunaria annua 'Variegata' |
Native Region: Central to Southern Europe Zone Range: 05-09 Preferred Climate: Widely adapted to many climates Harvest Date: Tuesday 25 July, 2006 Seed count: 20-25
Description: These striking variegated plants come relatively true from seed, and plain coloured seedlings may be weeded out early, if so desired. Bright magenta flowers are well highlighted by the generously cream splashed bright green foliage. The ripening seed pods are often entirely white, which can make a very attractive display and greatly extend the plant’s season of interest. The tall 1m (3ft) stems covered with seedpods, when dried, separated and cleaned, look very much like wispy silver dollar trees. Excellent for dried arrangements.
Cultivation: Sow seed in spring in situ. Protect seeds and seedlings from birds. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.
