Description:
This rosette-forming biennial has spiny white-veined and marbled, glossy dark green leaves. In the second year after sowing, the plant produces thistle-like purplish-pink flowerheads from summer to fall. Height to 5 feet. Suits a mixed or herbaceous border or a gravel garden.

Cultivation:
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed where it will grow in late spring or early summer. Thin seedlings to 24 inches apart. Grow in poor to moderately fertile, well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil in full sun. Protect from winter moisture.
