Sporobolus heterolepsis

Native Region: North American prairies
Zone Range: 04-09
Preferred Climate: Suited to a wide range of conditions
Harvest Date: Tuesday 19 October, 2010
Seed count: 40-50

Description:
A beautiful perennial grass that can take a while to establish and therefore is a good indication of undisturbed prairie in the wild. The leaves form gently rounded hummocks of silver green in the spring and summer with delicate sprays of seed above. The golden colour of the leaves in fall can persist through much of the winter. Height/spread 24-36 inches.

Notes:
This native prairie grass is suitable as an ornamental in almost any garden. Hardy and not prone to spread, this elegant species offers year-round interest.

Cultivation:
Sow seed in containers in spring or fall. Grow on in any moderately good garden soil with good drainage. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.

Harvest Date: Tuesday 19 October, 2010
