Zone Range: 07-09
Preferred Climate: Coastal temperate
Harvest Date: Friday 12 October, 2012
Seed count: 50-60

Description:
One of the most beautiful native trees of the North American Pacific Coast. A broadleaf evergreen tree with white flowers in the spring and small orange fruit in the autumn. The rich red-ochre coloured bark peels off in sheets during the growing season revealing the smooth new tan coloured bark in summer.

Notes:
In spring, it bears sprays of small bell-like flowers, and in autumn, red berries.

Cultivation:
Sow seed in containers in a coldframe in autumn. Grow in sharply drained soil, preferably on a slope. Avoid any root disturbance while transplanting young seedling. Plant in their final growing position where their roots will not be disturbed. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.
