Seed count: 15-20
Pinus wallichiana
Pinus wallichiana
Native Region: Himalayas - Afghanistan to Assam
Zone Range: 06-09
Preferred Climate: Cool to warm temperate
Harvest Date: Sunday 20 October, 2013
Seed count: 15-20

One of the most elegant specimen pine trees you are likely to see in temperate gardens. The long drooping needles seem to shimmer in the slightest breeze while the colour seems to change from green to blue to silver and back to green again. The ellipsoid female cones can reach 12 inches long. Height 70 feet; spread 20 feet.

For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in autumn in containers out doors. For spring sowings, the seed should be stratified - place in sterile damp sand and refrigerate for up to 6 weeks. Check for spouting after the fourth week. Plant seeds, or sprouted seeds, in sterile potting medium and grow on in a sheltered location for the first year. Grow in any moist well-drained soil in full sun.

Harvest Date: Sunday 20 October, 2013
