Description:
This herbaceous to woody stemmed annual can grow to as much as 1.5m (5ft) in height, but most cultivated strains reach only 1m (3ft) in height. The compound leaves are composed of five to seven bright green leaflets, to 12x4cm (5x2in). The flowers, produced in loose clusters at to top of the stems come in shades of purple, pink or white. The genus Cleome is now in the family Cleomaceae.
Notes: These seeds were collected from primarily pink flowered plants.
Cultivation: For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in containers in the spring when you would normally start tomatoes or other tender annual plants. Plant out when night temperatures do not drop much below 10ºC (50ºF). Grow on in neutral to acidic sandy soil with good drainage. Must be grown in full sun for flowers to develop in temperate regions.
