Description:
A slowly creeping rhizomatous perennial that produces long stalked glossy green leaves, with 5 to 9 distinct lobes. Each stalk generaly has two leaves and a single 9 petalled flower in the forked stalk. The fruit, which ripens to a yellow-green pomme 2.5-5cm(1-2in) in length, is edible. To 50cm (18in) in height.

This unusual but beautiful perennial is endangered in many regions where it is native. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.

Cultivation:
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in autumn, or stratify in sand in the spring. To stratify: Use a clean container with clean damp sand; place seed on the surface and cover with a thin 1cm(½ inch) of additional damp sand. Refrigerate for six weeks. Seed may then be sown in containers in a cool greenhouse or coldframe. Grow on in moist, well drained, humusy soil in part to full shade.
