Description: Eventually grows into a large open tree to 27 meters in height, spread to 15 meters. Bark is grey to black with deep lattice-like furrows. Branches may be thorny, but many popular cultivated varieties have fewer thorns. Leaves compound - pinnate with 9 to 19 2cm leaflets each. Fragrant ivory to white flowers appear in summer, produced in pendent racemes to 20cm long.
Cultivation: For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in containers in a cold frame in autumn. Grow in full sun in moderately-fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Will tolerate poor, dry soils. Provide shelter from strong winds.
