 Primula florindae 'Apricot' |
Native Region: Southeast Tibet Zone Range: 03-08 Preferred Climate: Temperate Harvest Date: Sunday 19 October, 2008 Seed count: 40-50
Description: This rosette-forming deciduous perennial bears umbels of pendent tubular fragrant apricot-coloured flowers in late spring. Height to 4 feet; spread 3 feet.
Notes: These plants were grown in relative isolation at VanDusen. Their flower colour is distinctly deeper than the species type, and quite striking if grown with ample moisture. Flowers are produced throughout summer, and occasionally into the early autumn.
Cultivation: For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in containers in an open frame in late winter or early spring. Grow in deep, humusy moist neutral to acidic loam in partial shade, or in more sun if soil is kept moist.
