Description: Tufted perennial with narrowly linear, rough-margined, sometimes hairy, grayish-green leaves, 10" long. Early to mid-summer racemes (6-12" long) of dark yellow flowers to 3/4" each. Flowers fade to orange-brown. Height 3'; spread 1.'
Cultivation: Sow in cold-frame in autumn or at 15 degrees Celsius in late winter. Likes full sun and shelter from wind. Fertile, sandy soil. Protect young growth with dry mulch in autumn, and provide support in windy sites. Divide brittle roots carefully after flowering.
