Description:
Despite its sordid associations, P. somniferum is a beautiful garden annual with attractive glaucous green leaves and large red flowers that brighten any meadow garden. The large seed pods are also excellent for dried arrangements. Poppy seeds of Papaver somniferum are an important food item and the source of poppyseed oil, a healthy edible oil that has many uses. It is widely grown as an ornamental flower throughout Europe, North America, South America, and Asia.

Cultivation:
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed where it is to grow. Protect seeds and seedlings from birds. Grow in deep, fertile well-drained soil in full sun.
