 Synthyris missurica 'Alba' |
Native Region: Canadian Arctic to Mountains of Northern California Zone Range: 02-08 Preferred Climate: Alpine Harvest Date: Tuesday 10 July, 2007 Seed count: 30-40
Description: This small wild flower is one of the first plants to flower in spring, although it often gets a head-start by flowering in late winter. The small clusters of white flowers arise with the leaves in mid-February and continue to bloom for over a month. The common name comes from the delicate fuzzy seed heads. This seed was collected from predominantly white flowered plants, so some variation should be expected.
Cultivation: Sow seed in containers in a coldframe in autumn or spring. Grow on in any moderately fertile, neutral to acid soil with good drainage. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.
