Description:
Clump-forming evergreen perennial with arching, narrowly elliptic glaucous leaves. Produces greenish white flowers, often red in bud, in cylindrical racemes from late summer to midautumn. The nectar-rich flowers attract birds. Height 4 feet; spread 2 feet.
Cultivation: Sow seed in containers in a cold frame in spring. Grow in deep fertile, humusy, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Remove spent flowers promptly. Mulch young plants with straw or leaves for the first winter.
