 Limnanthes douglasii |
Native Region: Western British Columbia, Washington Zone Range: 07-09 Preferred Climate: Moist cool temperate Harvest Date: Sunday 25 August, 2024 Seed count: 15-20
Description:
This little annual self sows where happy, and will return year after year, brightening any pond or streamside. Nectar-rich, cup-shaped, fragrant yellow flowers attract bees and hoverflies. Height/spread 6 inches.
Notes: Seedlings are delicate, but the exceptional beauty of the flowers is worth the effort. A fall planting in a cool greenhouse will yield winter blooms.
Cultivation: For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in fall or spring where they are to grow. Light is needed for good germination; so cover the seeds with only a little coarse sand. Keep moist. Grow in full sun and wet or very moist soil.
