ca$ 4.25
Seed count: 10-12
Illicium henryi
Illicium henryi
Native Region: China
Zone Range: 07-09
Preferred Climate: temperate
Harvest Date: Sunday 19 November, 2023
Seed count: 10-12

Description:
Pyramidal evergreen shrub with lance-shaped glossy green leaves. The leaves are anise-scented and deer-resistant. Bears star-shaped pink to crimson flowers in late spring, followed by red-brown star-shaped fruit. 6-8 feet height and spread.

Notes:
***Unlike Star Anise (Illicum verum), the seeds and seed pods of Henry's Anise (Illicum henryi) are not edible and should not be used in cooking***

Cultivation:
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. The seeds should be planted as soon as the ground warms up in spring. Because the plants have a taproot, they do not transplant well after being established, so they should be started either in their final location or transplanted while the seedlings are still small. Grow in moist, but well-drained humusy acidic soil in full sun or part shade. Provide shelter from drying winds.

Harvest Date: Sunday 19 November, 2023
