Lagurus ovatus |
Native Region: Mediterranean Zone Range: 08-10 Preferred Climate: Temperate Harvest Date: Sunday 28 August, 2022 Seed count: 30-40
Description:
This tufted annual grass has arching linear pale green leaves and bears ovoid spike-like panicles of softly hairy pale green spikelets that age to buff colour throughout summer. Height 20 inches; spread 12 inches. Suits a mixed or herbaceous border.
Notes: Grasses, long ignored as ornamentals, are now enjoying a growing popularity, especially with the increase in dry gardening techniques.
Cultivation: Sow seed in containers in a coldframe in spring or autumn. Seed may be sown in situ, but there is always the problem with birds eating the seeds before they grow. Grow in light sandy moderately-fertile well-drained soil in full sun. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.
