Hedychium spicatum
Hedychium spicatum
Native Region: China, Himalayas, Thailand
Zone Range: 8-10
Preferred Climate: warm temperate
Harvest Date: Sunday 13 November, 2022
Seed count: 15-20

Description:
This rhizomatous perennial has lance-shaped green leaves and bears tubular fragrant, creamy white flowers with apricot edges in a spike-like raceme in late summer. Attractive red fruits follow. Height to 3 to 5 feet.

Cultivation:
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed at 21-24 degrees Celsius when ripe. Prick out the seedlings into individual pots when they are large enough to handle and grow them on for their first winter in the greenhouse. Plant out in late spring after the last expected frost. Grow in humusy, moist but well-drained soil in sun or part shade--ideally with a southern exposure. Provide shelter from wind and give a deep mulch in winter.

Harvest Date: Sunday 13 November, 2022
