Clump-forming evergreen perennial with arching, narrowly elliptic glaucous leaves purple at the base. Produces coral-red flowers, fading to pale yellow, in cylindrical racemes from late summer to midautumn. The nectar-rich flowers attract birds. Height 1.2 meters; spread 60 cm.
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in containers in a cold frame in spring. Grow in deep fertile, humusy, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Remove spent flowers promptly. Mulch young plants with straw or leaves for the first winter.
