   Syn. Rudbeckia purpurea

Native Region: Central to Eastern North America
Zone Range: 03-09
Preferred Climate: Continental to temperate
Harvest Date: Tuesday 10 September, 2019
Seed count: 25-30

This erect perennial has lance-shaped, slightly hairy leaves and bears 6-inch flowerheads with conical, orange-brown disks and white ray florets. Height to 4 feet.

Open pollinated in the Alma VanDusen Meadow, these seeds should produce a range of interesting variants. Selected from white parent plants. This is the plant that is the source of so many herbal cold and flu preparations. The genus Echinacea is now in the family Compositae.

For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seeds in containers in the spring for best results, although seed may be scattered where it is to grow. Cover seed with perlite or vermiculite and place under protection at 18 degrees Celsius. Germination takes 15-24 days. Plant seedlings outdoors once risk of frost has passed. Grow in deep, well-drained humusy soil in full sun.

Harvest Date: Tuesday 10 September, 2019
