Native Region: Central and Eastern Europe, Russia Zone Range: 04-09 Preferred Climate: Temperate Harvest Date: Tuesday 30 September, 2025 Seed count: 15-20
Description:
Rhizomatous perennial with narrow, grass-like leaves that produces blue flowers about 3 inches across from mid-spring to early summer. Height 20-48 inches. Suitable for an open herbaceous or mixed border.
Notes: The plant benefits from shallow mulching in spring. Division is best done in August/September after flowering but can also be done in April.
Cultivation: For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. So seed as soon as it is ripe in a cold frame. Prick out the seedlings into individual pots when they are large enough to handle and grow on in the greenhouse or cold frame for the first year. Plant out in late spring or early summer. Grow in well-drained, moderately fertile, consistently moist soil in full sun to light shade.
