Description:
Evergreen perennial with linear, finely toothed coarse leaves that produces slender, oblong-ovoid racemes of flowers in early autumn. The flowers are red in bud, opening to orange and fading to yellow. Height 4 feet; spread 2 feet.
Notes: The genus Kniphofia is now in the family Xanthorrhoeaceae.
Cultivation: For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seed in containers in a cold frame in spring.Grow in deep, fertile, humusy, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Mulch young plants with straw or leaves for the first winter.
