 Limnanthes douglasii |
Native Region: Western British Columbia, Washington Zone Range: 07-09 Preferred Climate: Moist cool temperate Harvest Date: Sunday 25 August, 2024 Seed count: 15-20
Description:
This little annual self sows where happy, and will return year after year, brightening any pond or streamside.
Notes: Seedlings are delicate, but the exceptional beauty of the flowers is worth the effort. A fall planting in a cool greenhouse will yield winter blooms.
Cultivation: Sow seed in fall or spring where they are to grow. Light is needed for good germination; so do not cover the seeds with anything but a little coarse sand. Keep moist. Protect seeds and seedlings from birds. Grow in full sun and wet or very moist soil (at least in spring). Select a location where the soil is not likely to dry out. For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant.
