This erect perennial has palmate, green, finely-lobed leaflets and bears single, solitary red, blue or white flowers in spring. Height 12-18 inches; spread 6 inches. Winter-flowering in the wild, and the basis of many cultivars.
For maximum freshness, please keep seed refrigerated in its original packaging until it is time to plant. Sow seeds in containers in a cold frame in spring. Use sand to rub the hairs off the woolly-coated seeds. Grow in light, sandy soil in full sun. Ensure a dry dormancy period after flowering.
